Mutton gravy/Mutton Kuzhambu

Mutton kuzhambu or mutton  gravy is one of the common sunday recipes in my home. This is so simple and does not call for any roasting or grinding. That being said, the deliciousness of the dish is still lipsmacking as we add the mutton stock to make the gravy along with indian spice powders. This mutton gravy can be had with white rice, roti, dosa, idli, chapati, naan and the list goes on as you like it! Today i made this gravy for lunch and had it with white rice and it was really good for my sore throat and sinus. Do try this recipe and share your valuable feedback - happy cooking 😊😊😊! Bitter Gourd Curry

Bitter gourd is a big NO to me when i was a kid and to most of the kids out there! Despite it's medicinal value people think twice before buying it from the market. As far as i know, there are two varieties of bitter gourd, the small teeny tiny ones and the regular lengthy ones. I started liking the small ones once i tasted the curry made using these tiny variety at one of my aunt's place. Since then i insist my mom to buy small bitter gourd and make the curry. Needless to say, it tastes even better when mixed with white rice as soon as the dish is made. It is just heavenly. I have used the large bitter gourd's in today's recipe. Ingredients and the recipe steps are exactly the same as you do for the teeny tiny ones, i bet! Do give it a try and share your valuable feedback. Happy Cooking 😊😊😊. Ingredients: 2 large bitter gourd 2 medium sized tomatoes 2 medium sized tomatoes 4 garlic pods salt to taste 2 tbsp cooking oil 1 tsp mustard and split urad dh...

Chicken Drumstick Curry

It's the season of drumsticks here at my home and every other visitor of my house gets to enjoy atleast 4-5 drumsticks for free. But we take it for granted and hardly cook dishes using drumstick or the moringa leaves. Even the drumstick flowers carry nutritional benefits for our eyes and eye sight, i should give it a try next time to put these flowers into rasam or just a drumstick flower tea. Today i had a craving to eat chicken and asked my mom to buy chicken for me but i had this idea of cooking chicken curry with drumstick slowly cooked with coconut milk. So i had reserved this idea in my mind for few days to make this curry and trust me it's definitely a bomb! Needless to say the flavors of slow cooked drumstick and the coconut milk makes this dish so very exotic! Do give it a try and share your valuable feedback - it really matters a lot. Happy Cooking :) 1 drumstick 2 sprig curry leaves 1 cup thick coconut milk 500 gms of chicken 2 tsp red chilli powder 1 t...

Potato podimas / potato curry

Potato podimas is a typical south indian curry aka side dish for rice varieties. The potatoes are cut into tiny chunks and then they are sautees in a sesame oil tempering with mustard seeds, urad dhal, red chillies with seeds, bengal gram. Then to add more spice to the curry, a pinch of turmeric powder and some generous amount of red chilli powder is added and cooked on steam for couple of minutes. Then the half cooked potatoes are roasted till they turn little brown on all sides, on high flame. You just need to be careful enough not to burn the potatoes or avoid getting stuck to the bottom of the pan. Once the potatoes are roasted to the desired level, you can optionally garnish the podimas with chopped corainder leaves and serve with your favourite rice variety for lunch course. Ingredients: 3 large potatoes, peeled and finely chopped into tiny chunks 3 dry red chillies 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp urad dhal or split black gram 2 tbsp oil, i used sesame oil for better t...
